The School of Public Finance and Taxation at SDUFE began as the Department of Finance and Banking at the former Shandong University of Finance in 1960. That department resumed classes in 1978, and the Department of Finance and the Department of Taxation at Shandong University of Finance were founded in 1986. It adopted the current name of School of Public Finance and Taxation after its merger with the school of finance at the former Shandong Economic University in 2011. The school currently consists of two departments and one research center: the Department of Public Finance, the Department of Taxation, and the Experimental Teaching Center of Public Finance, Taxation and Management. The school offers B.A., M.A., and PhD degree programs. We have two undergraduate majors and two master degree programs in public finance and taxation, and one doctoral program in public finance.

The school now has 71 faculty and staff members, including 18 full professors, 28 associate professors, 5 doctoral student supervisors and 29 graduate student supervisors. There are 32 teachers with PhD degree, accounting for 56% of the total 57 full-time faculty. The school has many scholars awarded by talents schemes such as Young experts of Taishan Scholars, Young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Shandong Province, Chief expert of provincial key disciplines, Candidates for the project of 100 provincial theoretical talents, and Leading talents of State Administration of Taxation. In addition, many teachers take up important academic part-time jobs such as the Vice president of the national government budget Research Association, the Director of China Finance Society, the Director of China Institute of Taxation, the Director of China International Tax Research Association, the Director of National College Finance Teaching Research Association, the Executive director of China Tax Education Research Association, the Director of China Insurance Society, and Director of China rural finance and Economics Research Association.
