Public finance is a branch of economics, which is concerned with the allocation and distribution of resources initiated by the government, and explores the role of government in the economy. Public finance deals with key issues facing governments all round the world: taxes, government spending, national debt, fiscal policies, fiscal management, etc.

To cultivate innovative and interdisciplinary talents with international vision, the focus of the public finance program is on the development of analytical tools in economics for the study of public sector and the role of the state in principle and in practice. The program aims to enable students to be familiar with the fiscal and tax policy, and the state of financial and economic affairs in China. This program is designed to provide a thorough grounding in the principles underlying the role of the state, and to enable students to understand the practical problems involved in implementing these principles.

Graduates are qualified for works related to public finance, tax, investment and financing, asset management, financial management consulting in economic management departments, research institutions, enterprises, social organizations, intermediaries, etc.
